how to care for you new tattoo
Keep saniderm bandage on for 24 hours. After 24 hours remove and wash with mild soap (unscented is best!)
Apply new saniderm bandage sheet and leave on for 3-5 days (or until it falls off).
When saniderm falls off continue to clean with mild soap.
Dont scratch, pick or touch your healing tattoo.
Stay out of large bodies of water (hot tubs, pools, lakes, ocean, etc) for at least 2 weeks.
Showering is fine, however, please DO NOT soak your tattoo for at least 2 weeks. This means no swimming, baths or submerging your tattoo in water for long periods of time.
Avoid direct sunlight on your tattoo for at least 2 weeks and your tattoo is completely healed. After that, we advise putting on a sunblock (minimum SPF 50) on your tattoo whenever you find yourself in direct sunlight for the rest of your life. The sun will undoubtedly cause damage and compromise the longevity of your tattoo.
Wear loose clothing (preferably cotton) and avoid constricting accessories like bra straps and tight waistbands over a fresh tattoo. Avoid dirty, sweaty or itchy clothing as they can create healing problems.
second skin Removal
Peel up an edge or corner of SecondSkin™. If this proves difficult, you can attach medical tape to the corner of the film to help lift it.
Slowly pull the film off. Do not pull it straight up away from the skin. Instead, pull the film back and across the skin while holding your skin taut.
As the piercing starts to heal you will experience drainage of a whitish/yellowish fluid that will get crusty on your jewelry. Do not pick or scratch at dried up crusties.
Second Skin application
Clean and dry the tattoo thoroughly.
Cut the SecondSkin™ to the desired length and shape.
“Crack” the wave by bending the piece in half at the blue stripe.
Expose the sticky side by peeling off the backing printed with “SecondSkin”.
Smooth SecondSkin™ over the tattoo pushing out any air bubbles.
Remove supportive clear backing by peeling from the blue “wave” and smoothing over skin.
